Accountability

Accountability is so important when you are working on changing habits. Habits don’t change overnight. They take time and some are easier to change than others.

I have found that one of the best ways to change habits is to surround yourself with people that you trust. They will support you and hold you accountable when things get hard.

Just recently, I was having a rough week and I didn’t even realize it was happening until a few days had passed. The moment that I realized that I was struggling, I also noticed that I wasn’t eating properly. I was skipping meals or eating smaller portions which changed how I felt. I was angry, depressed, overwhelmed, frustrated, tired and the list goes on.

As soon as I realized that this was happening, I reached out to my accountability team to let them know what was happening. It is so important to speak out your struggles and break the silence. The moment that I shared my struggles with my accountability team, it no longer had power over me. I was able to BREAK FREE and enjoy food again.

My Breakfast Accountability Partner

It is so important to have accountability partners. Meet Linda. I met Linda in 2016. She is a fellow Epicure Consultant and she has been a HUGE factor in my eating disorder recovery. Since August 2017, Linda and I have been sharing what we are eating for breakfast. We send each other a photo daily via FB of what our breakfast is. (see below for some sample photos of what we have enjoyed over the past year and a half!)

Accountability

This is a big win for me. I have learned that if I don’t eat breakfast then I will most likely skip lunch which means by dinner time, I am a hangry person! And when I am hangry, you better watch out because I am also not the nicest or calmest person.

Breakfast Photos

The top 3 are a sample of what Linda eats for breakfast. The bottom 3 are mine. Normally, I enjoy a smoothie and coffee but every once in a while, I bored of drinking smoothies and have something else. Linda enjoys a much better variety than I do!

Photos that make me smile!

Every so often, Linda will send me a photo of her enjoying breakfast and they always make me smile. (We don’t live close, so we don’t get to see each other too often.) They also come when I need it to most! I don’t send her photos of myself, but I do send her photos of my kids stealing.

Take a look!!!

Do you have accountability partners? Do you have people that support you and build you up during difficult times? I have several for different areas in my life. And I highly encourage you to find your tribe. They will make a big difference when you are trying to change habits, reach goals or just succeed in life.
